Hi. I’m Noelle…
I’m Noelle, a yoga teacher in Edinburgh, originally from Ireland, who has been living nomadically since 2009.
I truly believe that yoga should be for everybody and every body. For me, the mat is not a place for ego, perfection or judgement but a space for self-growth, healing, discovery and advancement mentally, physically and spiritually.
Yoga is a never-ending journey of learning and progression; one that I want to share with you. The Bhagavad Gita said, “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” Take the journey with me, enjoy your practice and embrace all that yoga can offer you.
And Breathe…
The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from a Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to unite’ and its origins can be traced to northern India dating back over 5,000 years ago. With a focus on finding joy in every day, showing compassion for all living things, fostering gratitude and appreciation for what we have, being patient with ourselves and accepting all part of ourselves, even the dark parts which we keep hidden in the shadows, this ancient practice will take you on an inward journey of discovery of who you truly and authentically are, while creating a sense of interconnectedness with the world around you and all beings in it.
Through synchronising breath with movement, and taking the time to reflect and look deep within ourselves, Yoga cultivates harmony between our bodies and minds, and ultimately our souls.
Often seen as a workout, the practice of yoga is not only physical but also spiritual. The term yoga is often used to refer to the postures or the physical part of yoga; however, these poses, or asana, are only one of the eight limbs of yoga. Yoga is so much more than ‘exercise’, it is a way of life that will allow you to live more freely, fully and authentically with greater awareness and compassion. It is a path to true inner wellbeing.
My classes aim to use the physical limbs of yoga, namely movement and breath to promote this sense of wellbeing and the opportunity to journey deeper within yourself to a place of self-love and self-acceptance.
In-Person & Live Online Yoga Classes via Zoom
Both my yoga classes in Leith, Edinburgh and online yoga classes are engaging and interactive with a strong focus on correct alignment to avoid injury. Modifications and amplifications will be offered and props (yoga blocks, straps, blankets and cushions) can be included. Don’t worry if you don’t have props, there are substitutes you’ll have at home.
“Yoga takes you into the present moment, the only place where life exists."
– Patañjali
Some classes will focus more on energetics practices like unblocking chakras, setting intentions, and pranayama (breathwork) and meditation will be incorporated. In any style of class, lots of fun will be had with some spiritual insights thrown in along the way and you will feel rejuvenated and renewed afterwards.
