Types Of Yoga…
As yoga is a practice for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, it is needed now more than ever in these fast-paced, tech-driven, and often chaotic times, times we live in. Yoga fosters a sense of calm, grounding, and acceptance of that which you can’t control. It’s an opportunity to move, be present, connect with others and take time for yourself, away from the everyday hustle and bustle.
My own personal yoga practice has been a calming and consistent refuge during challenging times in my own life and I really want to share that sense of tranquillity with others.

Rocket-Inspired Vinyasa
These classes are based on Rocket yoga sequences, which has its roots in Ashtanga yoga. The class will always begin slowly with some pranayama and/or meditation, a quick warm-up for the wrists and shoulders as we work our way up through sun salutations to a one breath one movement dynamic vinyasa sequence. This will then be followed by a mixture of standing and seated postures, the opportunity to play with some arm balances and/or inversions, and work up to heart-openers and backbends. We will always wind the body down slowly with a hip opening sequence and a closing sequence and then finish in savasana or corpse pose, our final meditative resting pose, to let all this juicy stretchy goodness integrate into the body.
As always, you will be encouraged to take the opportunity to make this practice completely your own, take rest when you need it or choose from the many options to modify or amplify postures depending on what your body wants or needs. Listen to your body – it and you are your best teacher.
Chakra Vinyasa
Chakra means “wheel” and refers to different energy points in our body. The energetic life force, or prana, that moves inside of us is spinning and rotating so the chakras are thought to be spinning disks of energy that should stay “open” and aligned, as they correspond to bundles of nerves, major organs, and areas of our energetic body that affect our emotional and physical well-being. This spinning energy has 7 centres in our body, starting at the base of the spine and moving all the way up to the top of the head, from the Root Chakra / Muladhara to the Sacral chakra / Svadhishana, Solar Plexus Chakra / Manipura, Heart chakra / Anahata, Throat chakra/ Vishuddha, Third Eye Chakra / Ajna, up to the Crown Chakra /Sahasrara. In a healthy, balanced person, the 7 chakras provide the right balance of energy to every part of your body, mind, and spirit. But, if one of your chakras spins too quickly, is blocked, or moves slowly, this will manifest in your physical body and your health will suffer.
These classes will embody a holistic approach to Vinyasa style flow focused on opening or unblocking one of the seven chakras. The practice will include pranayama, meditation and various postures related to the particular chakra being worked on. So, for example in a Heart chakra / Anahata focused class we would work on softening our energy to promote softness and vulnerability, open the chest and encourage surrender as the Heart chakra embodies the energies of love, joy, compassion and kindness so the goal while balancing Anahata, is to dissipate our ego, to promote compassion, joy and love as well as connecting with our inner child while expanding self-love and universal love.
Expect heart and shoulder opening postures as well as back bending postures to open the heart chakra.
These classes will always begin slowly with a chakra focused pranayama and/or chakra focused meditation, a quick warm-up for the wrists and shoulders and body as we work our way up to a chakra focused vinyasa sequence. We will always wind the body down slowly with a closing sequence and finish in savasana or corpse pose, our final meditative resting pose, to let all the energy balancing work integrate into the body.
As always, you will be encouraged to take the opportunity to make this practice completely your own, take rest when you need it or choose from the many options to modify or amplify asana depending on what your body wants or needs. Listen to your body – it and you are your best teacher.
